The Dyson vacuum cleaner is a good D17, but it is a bit on the pricey side for some, retails for around $ 450. The price would bejustified if there are some features that really made this device stand out, but there were really none. The tools for the telescope tube, were on the flimsy side and are with friction by held on. This makes it difficult to secure proof, no hassle with curious they can and again to people the strength or wrist twisted capacity as is necessary lack hard. The motorized upholstery is okay, but the brush is significantly slowed when it is used toanything with a bunch to make it as velvet, brocade or carpeting. This makes the claim that it is misleading for pet owners, as this tool is no better than a static brush tool, if it is to come for a waiver of animal hair surfaces such as stairs or furniture.
The 5-year warranty on the Dyson DC17 Absolute Animal Bagless Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner is a generous warranty, but the parts for Dyson are can be expensive and difficult to locate easily. The suction on this machine iswonderful, but the price awfully steep for a model, how cheap is extra parts. The additional carpet kit with absorbent powder is a nice gesture, but ultimately as something that was never used, and took extra storage space. It would have been better if the plants make clip in the wand rather than abide by the friction and the special motor-brush would have done better, to be more effective to have animal hair. A decent machine overall, but there are a vacuum cleanerthe market that cost less and have exactly the same performance and better features.

This is my 2nd Euro-Pro Shark vacuum and I love it. Why? Very powerful for a light weight vacuum, it has great suction power, great for picking-up animal hair (and human too!), the attachments work fine and not too fussy to put on or take off (I think it comes with too much attachments). It makes vacuuming easy and fast, especially for daily touch-ups. Storage is not a problem as this little light weight guy fits almost anywhere. Like other Shark handheld vacuums, you have to clean the filter after vacuuming. This vacuum comes with a HEPA filter with a filter ring attached to it- a light weight fabric with Velcro closure, which you have to remove before washing the HEPA filter. Washing it, just rinse under luke warm water, tap and let it dry.
The down side of this vacuum, it is noisy..... very loud, actually sounds like a floor sanding machine.[Important] You HAVE to hold it firmly before turning it on as it might fall. It also emits a rubbery smell due to the power it has, but it goes away after several usage. Replacing the filter maybe difficult as I haven't come across one on Amazon as yet.
However, this vacuum (corded) is better than the other Shark rechargeable handheld vacuums as it will last and do not need recharging.
Overrated - Connie1998 - Received this product as a gift and am very disappointed with it. I have hardwood floors so I basically use it to clean the furniture and clean area rugs in the house. Although it does have good suction power and a long cord, it is very loud and gets very hot after only seconds of use. It constantly overheats and shuts itself off leaving me having to wait hours until it cools down for use again. Emptying out the bag after use is a bit difficult and I usually have to use an old toothbrush to scrape off the dust. Good thing I didn't have to pay for this!
Dangerous, Don't Buy - Dont_buy_it - We had this vacuum for about 3 weeks until it had an internal problem and it quit working. It started sparking near the motor and then a bright light and that was the end of it. We hardly used it and when we did it was only for a few minutes. What a waste of money, thanks for the piece of junk.

If I had I probably would not have, and that would have been a BIG mistake. I have 4 cats that stay inside all the time and three dogs that come in sometimes. Believe me, having a good hand vac is a must in my house. When mine (won't name the brand) kicked the bucket and I could not find another one at a local store I settled for this SHARK.
I have just cleaned all the upholstered furniture in my downstairs and it's quite a lot. I have emptied and cleaned the filters twice and could not believe the amount of dander, dust, hair and everything else nasty that the other hand vac left behind. The furniture that I just cleaned was supposed to be fairly clean, I was just doing a regular weekly cleaning. I was totally shocked at how much stuff was in my furniture that I thought the other vacuum was getting out.
This is a great Vacuum! It cleans excellent, it does run a little loud, but no louder than my other one. It has great suction on the hand held hose and crevice tool. I especially like the filter that can be totally cleaned with hot water to get rid of the dander and dust. It's not too heavy, and if it only lasts a year under this heavy use, then I have gotten my moneys worth at less than a month. I would buy another one without question.
don't buy this - glapwing - It worked great for 6 or 7 uses then the brushes stopped turning & while the bearings on each end turned freely the belt wouldn't turn them. So I emailed the company & they told me to go to a Sears repair center to get a new belt & was told to call the company which I did & they told me to go to a Sears repair center. After slamming down the phone I went out & bought a dirt devil hand vac which I should have done in the first place. Not that expensive but still a waste of time & money.
Great at what it does - poor design - Todd Copeland - I have two cats and wanted a vacuum that I could quickly clean up he small areas. I waned a vacuum with a hose and I liked the fact that this still had a rotating brush. The amperage was good as well.
This vacuum is _excellent_ are picking up animal fur and debris. I mean, it's great at it! I vacuumed the seat pad that my cat sleeps on and the caked on fur just came right off. I used it on the stairs and could not believe the amount of debris that it picked up. I'd give it 5 stars in this area.
But as other have mentioned, the vacuum _will_ shut off as it gets too hot. Clearly a design flaw that the manufacture did not feel like correcting before selling. Happens about 30 minutes into use. You can tell from the start that the machine gets very hot. You are left with no choice but to turn it off and wait. I'd give it 1 star in this area. I'd give it 1-2 stars over-all as I'd consider this design flaw to be a slap in the face from the manufacture but when it works.... it works very good.
Great Vac for Cleaning a semi truck, belt???????? - Rob - MILWAUKEE, WI, US I bought this Shark vac from walmart. I'm going to have to buy another one take the belt out and return it to walmart. I tried for several weeks to find a new belt I could buy, but there are none to buy.. this practic is a last resort.. maybe if the shark company gets enough new vac's returned missing the belt they will offer a replacement belt.. Also it worked great after I finally read the directions.. this thing works so good it needs to be cleaned before every use. I drive a Semi truck and having a vac that will clean my truck without emmiting dust itself is awesome.. but the belt burned up too soon...
I bought this a few years ago when I lived in a house that had stairs. This little devil did wonders cleaning up the cat hair from my couch and stairs, however it had such a high pitch scream to it, I couldn't use it without earplugs! The cord is long enough to get to the top of the stairs with no problem. Sooo much easier than carrying my upright up the stairs! I don't use it as much anymore since I have moved to a single story home. I just use the attachments on my regular vacuum cleaner for the couch. Also, using a pair of regular cleaning rubber gloves,(Like the yellow ones to wash dishes) and rubbing my hands across the couch pulls the cat hair up like a magnet!

The power and rotating brush is fantastic. I've tried 5 other vacs and nothing could get the boat carpeting clean; I had to hand-pick stubborn stuff and was pricing having it all replaced with a whole different pile type because it always looked crappy. This thing is great for flats, corners and carpeting in small spaces. Wear ear plugs; it's worth it. I've taped the small plug container to the vac.
Terrible! - Chrissy D - Pittsburgh, PA This Vacuum broke after only a few uses. My parents bought it for me as a gift since I have a company car and have to transport customers and my boss frequently. So my car must be impeccably clean. When I first got it, I was pretty happy with it. It did a good job at getting all of the small pieces that a normal hose would not pick up from my regular vacuum. But I did also notice that it was awkward in certain areas of my car because the hard plastic dust bin on the back doesn't fit well in small areas. It overheated constantly within the first 3 or 4 minutes of use, and finally it never turned back on after overheating. I only had the vacuum for about 4 months. What a disappointment!
How do you clean this thing? - K. Green - I just bought this vacuum and it worked very well. It's very lightweight and powerful and it picked up a lot.
But here's my problem - I've only used it once and I can't figure out how to open the filter! I removed the filter from the dust cup, but I can't get the filter to open. It's pretty full but I should be able to open it, right? Can anyone help me? If I can't get this thing open, the vacuum will be useless soon.
