If I were reading all the rest of the reviews of this product, I would have never bought it. Fortunately, I knew much better. I bought this vacuum over 10 years ago, and yes, there were problems with the belt coming off/breaking. However, after getting it repaired, I never had any more problems. It lasted a good 10 years and was the most powerful hand held vac I ever owned. After it finally died, I purchased many many others since I couldn't find it anywhere. I was so sick of the pet hair and trying to constantly use those rollers to pick it up, but no other vacuum cleaner ever worked. I finally found this a couple of months ago on-line and immediately bought it. They have upgraded the product. It is much better than the original, so do not read the older reviews since all the problems with the belt have been resolved. It has the most suction of any (including my upright) vacuum I have ever used. It has can be switched from low to high power, so the issues with it being loud do not apply when you have it on low. Yes, it is quite a bit louder than a little Dustbuster type, but that is because it has a much bigger engine and a lot more power. I have to have it on HIGH to pick up the pet hair off my couch, but it vacuums it right up. I wish I could find an upright with as much power as this that didn't cost a fortune. I love this vacuum and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is sick of wimpy vacuum cleaners.

I'm amazed how great it picks up stuff. If you have a dog or cat, it is great getting hair off of the furniture. It's real handy for the car. I have one and I bought one for a gift.
