Bissell Hand Vac - Donna W. Neal - Maryland, USA
this is the second one I have ordered the first was perfect but this one the body may be bent a little and it makes it hard to attach the dust bag back on the vac.
Great Product - LeAnn -
Purchased one for my dad for Christmas, my sister loves it too, she uses it when she comes home. Just purchased one for use on our boat. Does not take up much space at all to store it. Would recommend it highly!!!
Worst DustBuster ever - AVOID!!! - TigerDave - Temecula, CA United States
I've owned several B&D DustBuster's in my life including the original from the early 80's. Since that time, overall design, battery performance, and suction has improved -- for the most part. They still all eventually die and therefore require replacement every few years.
Having great success with our impressively powerful 9.6V Dustbuster (model CHV9600, purchased in 2006), we picked up this 7.2V (model CHV7202) for the laundry room since it claims to be a wet/dry vac and I figured 7.2V would be close in performance to the 9.6V.
Boy was I wrong!
From Day One, the suction on this model was so poor, it couldn't even pick up tiny bits of dryer lint on the floor! Our 9.6V model could handle anything you could throw at (as long as the items fit through the opening). But this one? Not even close. To make matters worse, I mounted the charging unit on the wall only to find out that it's quite a challenge to actually "dock" the vac for charging due to it's poor design, so we almost never dock it. In fact, we now bring the 9.6V model upstairs to tackle the tasks that this one failed to do.
In short: I'm not sure who greenlighted this model over at B&D, but they should have been fired. Avoid this one at all costs and get the current 9.6V model (or above). We wanted to return ours, but we made this mistake of tossing out the box.
Pretty good for the money - J. Van Santvoord -
Considering that this is a pretty inexpensive dustbuster, it's not bad. It does blow air out the back when running, which is a little strange because the air blows in your face. And I wouldn't say it's super powerful. But overall it does the job, and sure beats cleaning up my 16 month-old son's messes by hand. :-)
bad design - A. Jain -
I wanted to use it on carpet area in dining room, and in car. It does pick the dust (and other food particles etc), to blow it on my face and distribute fine particles all over the place. Highly disappointed with this product.
No power, battery life is 3 minutes at most after full charge - Kara - new york, ny
I am very appalled at the low performance of this vacuum that I bought new for this weekend 2/5/10. I charged it as requested for 12 hours and after that, it lasted a full 3 minutes before dying out! I could not believe it so I charged it again and the same thing happened. I am so disappointed because I really liked the design of the quick flip to get dirt out from my car. How can Dirt Devil sell this item when the battery dies out so fast? I have to return this and buy another brand because the Dirt Devil Detailer (also ) that I bought for my car because it is tiny is so powerless and can't go in the cracks, and I have to hold down the button for vacuuming which makes for a painful cleaning time for my hands. I am in disbelief at the poor quality. These 2 items have convinced me never to trust Dirt Devil again because now I have to waste time and postage to send back my vacuum.
Not worth the money - Chuck in Los Angeles - Los Angeles
In all fairness, this vacuum works fairly well on smooth surfaces like a tile floor, but it is really substandard for use on carpets. Especially in my car (the reason I bought it), the Dirt Devil Scorpion is barely able to muster up the strength to clean the carpet. Also, the charger is poorly designed and it's always a challenge to re-seat the unit in the charger. As well, the Dirt Devil won't hold a charge unless it's sitting in the charger, so forget keeping it in the car. Other home tools & appliances I own retain their charge for many weeks (until the tool is used), but not this one.
never good - Heather - Florida
Would not sit in charger, so had to put book on it to get contact and charge. Did not pick up anything in the car except medium sized rocks. There was noticeable wood splinters, hair, and other paper-like trash that it never picked up and the flip down did not increase the draw. It was hard to empty without dust going everywhere (dust filter is good, but no replacements and made of paper). Returned after one use.
THE BEST HAIRSPRAY REMOVER - J. Whitney - Indianapolis, IN
The Hot Shot Steamer is the best cleaner on the earth. Especially for the bathroom. The hairspray builds up on the vinyl floor and is very hard to remove, but the Hot Shot removes it with ease. And best of all, there's no chemicals...just add water and go.
I burnt my hand 3 times - Scott Smith - Vancouver, Canada
I had high expectations but everytime I try to use it the hose twist off and dumps hot water on me. It definatly dosn't really steam anything off. Holding down the button is a pain. I wish there was a latch to hold it down. Your better off scrubbing it yourself. It suppose to save you time but creates a bigger mess then you started.
its just OK - S. Kirker - zephyrhills, florida
Its extremely noisy and it gets VERY VERY HOT after about 5 minutes of use. Not recommended.
I'll Let You Know In 20 Years. - Passing Through -
I had an old Black and Decker car vac. that died after 20 years of use. That one was a great one. This one is turning out to a good one also. I hope it lasts that long. The extra tools help car vacuuming easier.
Not what I expected ... - MamaMia - BC, Canada
I bought this little gem (stainless steel to last longer) in March, 2010, to clean my new car. I checked ratings and found it rated higher than most, so I bought it - wanted something better than the rechargeable ones. I have only used it twice because of health issues but I am really, really disappointed. Suction isn't what I was expecting - really have to work hard at getting it to pick up most bits on my car's interior. Also, the attachments keep falling off. I think I'll just (pardon the pun) suck up the loss and buy something else ... this one's too much of a challenge to use and much too frustrating!
bought two and wish I didn't. - Robert Margolis - Washington State, CA USA
In the past year I have purchased two of these "great" vacuums through Amazon (BTW, performance is just ok). Before you consider making this purchase be prepared to have two battery issues. First, the run time of the battery, based upon a full charge, is about 90 seconds and then stops...dead. Second, the battery's rechargeable life span is about 9 mos assuming you use it a few times a week. This means you now have to buy a new battery at which is ridiculous. I'm going to attempt to sell mine on eBay rather than support Dyson again.
Handy little sucker - HTBK - San Francisco, CA USA
This is my first hand-held vacuum. I always used my regular vacuum with the extenders instead, but this machine makes it so much easier to clean up small spills, crumbs, spider webs, etc. It's light-weight and can get into cramped areas easily. The suction power on this little vacuum is fantastic. The canister is easy to empty; a trigger releases the bottom and the waste falls into your trash can.
It's important to note that this machine has a short run time. It can go for 10 minutes on its lower power setting and 6 minutes on the higher power setting. I have never needed it to last longer than this for any single use, so the time limit has never been an issue for me. If I ever have bigger cleaning jobs to do, I use my Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner anyway.
LOVE my new DYSON - DIANA M PAWLIK -
Super powered and effective -- not sure why it took me so long to get one! Definitely delivers on prodcut performance and stands head and shoulders above the rest. LOVE IT!
A remarkably useless device. - Foo Bar - Chicago, IL
It looked so pretty charging there in the corner I was sure it would pick up some of the dust on the windowsill above it. But no. It didn't even try hard. If you like turning on a motor and listening to it whirr.... then maybe you'd want to buy this. But don't expect to do any cleaning with it. The only thing it's good for is agitating the dogs.
well, this is an annoying, ineffective product - Baddog - Washington, DC
pros:
looks cool
works as a night light
small footprint
cons:
Really, really loud
the "nozzle" opening is small and due to the poor suction, the opening has to be placed directly over the thing you are trying to vacuum; however, as other reviewers note, the exhaust is busy blowing away everything you are trying to vacuum with at least as much force as the suction. The end result being that it barely picks anything up.
It's really not that bad... - Eurie Chung - Los Angeles, CA USA
As handheld vacuums go, it's definitely styled to be pretty rather than uber-functional. Having said that, it's not as horrible as others have written. Yes, it does blow air, but it also sucks a lot dust and pet hair. It's easy to empty and clean the filter, and if I go on a handheld vacuum rampage, it does an effective job of grabbing the dust bunnies that collect under the couch and bed. I'm okay with dealing with a little bit of dust blowing for a more aesthetically pleasing hand vac option because it actually does what it purports to do.
Bissell Handheld - P. Johnson -
So far, I am pleased with this handheld Bissell. It has a lot of power for a little vaccum. It's great for cleaning off my drapes or other things that are hard to reach with a Normal vaccum.
handheld vacuum cleaner - M. Zlatkin - Lancaster, PA USA
Very good vacuum cleaner. I selected it out based on Consumer Reports rating and it cleans very well. I would recommend it to a friend.
Powerful little handheld vacuum. - Manny the Daddy - Queens, NY
This is exactly what Mom wanted. Lightweight yet powerful. She specifically wanted a corded handheld so the power supply is consistent. It does get a little hot, but it's ideal for quick cleanups or vacuuming the carpeted stairs. The compartment that holds the dirt is easy to clean out, as is the filter. Very nice little vacuum.
Powerful but didn't last long enough - Edward F. Ayres -
This hand vacuum is indeed extremely powerful but mine broke down just a little later than the warranty coverage. It started making a terrible noise and lost most of its power. Getting the receptacle off to empty its contents is very difficult. Push the release button and you still have to wrestle with it get the holding bin off. While it worked, it worked very well, producing lots of suction and lasting longer on a single charge than any other Dustbuster or similar item I've had.
The BEST small vac ever! - Ct. Yankee -
Powerful suction and long battery usage before recharge is needed. Can't beat this vacuum for handy and quick clean-ups of floors and rugs. Great for cleaning out your car's interior rugs too.
Terrible! - Chrissy D - Pittsburgh, PA
This Vacuum broke after only a few uses. My parents bought it for me as a gift since I have a company car and have to transport customers and my boss frequently. So my car must be impeccably clean. When I first got it, I was pretty happy with it. It did a good job at getting all of the small pieces that a normal hose would not pick up from my regular vacuum. But I did also notice that it was awkward in certain areas of my car because the hard plastic dust bin on the back doesn't fit well in small areas. It overheated constantly within the first 3 or 4 minutes of use, and finally it never turned back on after overheating. I only had the vacuum for about 4 months. What a disappointment!
How do you clean this thing? - K. Green -
I just bought this vacuum and it worked very well. It's very lightweight and powerful and it picked up a lot.
But here's my problem - I've only used it once and I can't figure out how to open the filter! I removed the filter from the dust cup, but I can't get the filter to open. It's pretty full but I should be able to open it, right? Can anyone help me? If I can't get this thing open, the vacuum will be useless soon.
I had high hopes for this - USA -
I had high hopes for this after reading all the positive reviews. That is why I chose this brand. At first I thought my hopes would be met. The steamer is heavy in weight and seems well made, with a very thick cord and nice heavy attachments. I bought a gallon of distilled water to use in it. I first used it in my bathroom. I did the sink bowl, the toilet, and part of the tub before the steam ran out. However, there was a little problem. After the first few moments, I had to hold the pot upright, with the nozzle pointing up or no steam would come out. I could not point the nozzle down or the steam would stop. That was a little problematic when doing the tub. The steam was also finished in less than five minutes. I shook it to be sure it was out of water. I unplugged it, opened the nozzle valve to let any residual steam there might be inside bleed out and let it cool down a bit before I opened the cap to put in some more distilled water. When I went to close the cap, however, the cap would not lock down but instead when I plugged it in to let it heat up, steam poured out around the cap. I unplugged it, let it cool down and again did the turn, push down, turn sequence and again steam poured out around the cap so it is going back and I will think about trying a different brand. Their cap needs a better locking mechanism.
A Nifty Little Gadget - Jim -
I found the Haan Steamer adequate for the job it states it can do. It produced steam which melted greasy dirt that I was then able to wipe away with a wet sponge and sometimes a little cleanser. I read the negative reviews, but I believe they were due to overly high expectations. Yes, the steam was short-lived, but quickly rebooted so I got the job done with a minimum of elbow grease.
Steam Doesn't Clean As Well As One Might Think - Jerry J - Boise, ID USA
This device does shoot a blast of steam. Unfortunately, the steam does not clean as well as one might think. A rag with hot water and Mr. Clean works far better (and easier). Too bad the steam disappoints. I could hold my hand about five inches away from the tip and the steam only felt "warm." It's really not that hot and not that intense.
I will return it.
Not all F5's are created equal - P. Royal -
This F5 filter does not fit the Dirt Devil Scorpion Quick Flip model 08220. Get the original filter.
serger dust remover - Lois G. Coddington -
Works well with my serger getting the dust removed. Doesn't disturb the threads but isn't quite as powerful as I would have liked. Very handy to keep it plugged in and use at any time.
Not as good as the older 7.2v model DB700 Type 1 - Molyneux - Northern Kentucky
I received the B&D vac model CHV1408 as a Christmas present. It was intended to replace the DB 700, with the two rechargeable batteries, that I have used for years. Since it was a present, I had to put the new one in service right away. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with its performance. First, ir's heavier that the older model. Second, it just doesn't have the pick-up power of the old model. Now, after trying to use the CHV1408 for several months, I'm taking it out of service and restoring the older DB700 to "preferred mini-vac status".
Another point to consider is that the battery in the CHV1408 is not replaced easily where with the older model, it takes a pair of 3.6v VersaPak batteries that are readily available and easily replaced.
My suggestion - save your money. Don't buy the model CHV1408.

Cute but not actually useful - Xiaoying Zhang -
Although this certainly looks more interesting than other USB vacuum cleaners, it doesn't vacuum very well. The foam strip on the bottom of the vacuum picks up more dust than the vacuum itself. Would be interesting to show off to friends, but don't bother trying to clean with it.
